Big Hat Disability Network
The Big Hat Cabaret, is an annual event which is currently staged at Steam Museum, Swindon. It is a platform for a wide range of talents and ages, many with disabilities. “This is a unique opportunity for people with disabilities and their teachers and helpers to perform in front of an audience. Their confidence is greatly increased and it is such a joy to see folk having such a fantastic time,” said Josie Williams, Community Arts Development Officer at Commonweal Lead for the Big Hat Disability Network.
“Having been involved with the Big Hat Cabaret for four years we are always impressed by the diversity of the performances. The energy and enthusiasm from all of the groups involved shows the strength and depth of talent in the learning disabilities and disabled community in Swindon. Praise should not only go to the Big Hat Cabaret team who organise a great show each year but also to those who manage to organise their groups and support it each year. This annual event is rapidly becoming, if it already isn't, a fixture in Swindon's calendar and we look forward to it coming around next year, “ Doug Morris, helper at the event and father of Ben Morris. The Morris Family sang again this year.
