Partners Theatre present Trip Wire
We were very fortunate to have Partners Theatre perform to our Yr 8 in our purpose built auditorium on Tuesday 4th October, the start of the companies tour. “‘Trip wire’ is one of the most exciting shows that our theatre company Partners has created. Partners are a group of actors who have disabilities and are supported by the Charity Reach Inclusive Arts, based at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon. They have been working with Big State Theatre Company from Salisbury Arts Centre who have brought their unique brand of physical comedy to the devising of this drama. The subject carries a serious message about the use of technology in our lives, how it can add but also how it can prevent us seeing the world around us and accepting our ability to communicate with each other face to face. However, the comedy that the actors bring to the stage gives this piece a joy that is infectious and one certainly should not to be missed. The company are currently touring Swindon and Wiltshire schools, colleges and public venues.
“We have been partnered with Reach Inclusive Arts since 2004 and each year Partners come into school to perform an issue based play to all our Yr 8s.Our students react in a very positive way to the performance and Q&A.,” said Heather Birkbeck, Head of Drama at Commonweal School.
“I loved watching the show – it was amazing that they were doing something that they liked doing and didn’t let their disabilities get in the way of it,” said Commonweal student Abigail Maycock.
“It taught me that anyone disabled, or not and from any culture can put on a great performance together,” said Louis Warburton
